Popular dancer and choreographer Mukti Mohan and Animal actor Kunal Thakur's love story is as enchanting as their chemistry. The couple, who met on the sets of a movie, instantly connected and married in December 2023. They often share glimpses of their love life on social media, inspiring their fans with adorable moments and affectionate gestures. Recently, they welcomed Mashable India into their home - a blend of muted tones, thoughtful decor, and cherished memories. They have transformed every corner of this space into a canvas for their personalities, passions, and shared experiences. Let’s look at some special elements that make their house truly unique. Step inside Mukti Mohan's marital home When Kunal first moved in as a bachelor, the home reflected a different vibe with bolder colours and statement decor, said Mukti. However, the decor evolved after the wedding to match their collective tastes, creating a warm, tranquil atmosphere they both enjoyed. One of the critical features of their living room is a serene sunrise painting of a mountain. "This is where we have our mornings. which are beginning to a lot of new projects, new scripts, new days," Mukti explained. A beautiful, plant-dyed Durga mukut from Mukti's family brings warmth and spiritual energy to the room. A seahorse statue adds a hint of the water element, complementing the waves painted on the wall. Unique oxygen plants flank their TV, adding greenery and life to the space. In homage to their wedding, they’ve preserved their “var mala” (garland) in wax—a lasting memento of their special day. For anyone interested in antiques, the couple recommends exploring the iconic “Chor Bazaar” in Mumbai, where they found a vintage storage trunk. With its unique history and utility, this charming piece fits perfectly into their home, adding to the layered decor without overpowering the space. For Mukti, making everything cat-proof was essential since their two furry friends, Ginger and Caramel, roam freely around the house. A bookshelf, replacing Kunal’s bachelor-era helmet display, showcases their favourite reads and a precious family item: Beyond Enlightenment, a book Mukti's father used to read. "Whenever there is a pencil mark, he even remembers the page number and the topic he highlighted," she said. One of the couple's most beloved pieces is their favourite wedding photo, capturing just the two. It's displayed in a cosy corner where they often meditate, try out new projects, and prepare for auditions and readings. With ample natural light, this spot also doubles as a dance practice area, with mirrors placed strategically for rehearsals. Their bedroom opens to a balcony where they love to unwind, watch sunsets, and enjoy moments of quiet reflection. During the lockdown, the balcony also became a fitness space for Mukti, who practices functional fitness outdoors, taking advantage of the fresh air and ocean view.
