The physiology of sleep,various sleep disorders,their diagnosis were discussed at length at a ‘Brain and Mind’ workshop held here last night as part of a pre-conference event to the Indian Academy of Neurology Congress,beginning here from today.

Snoring is due to decrease of oxygen supply. It is because of the obstruction in the respiratory tract,Dr K Radhakrishnan,Director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Science and Technology and President Elect of Indian Association of Neurology said.

The close relationship between the brain and mind and between the clinical specialities of neurology and psychiatry were also discussed at the workshop.

Taking epilepsy and movement disorders as examples of brain-mind interaction,the workshop explored the emotional and behavioural consequences of brain dysfunction.
