The history of Indian Coffee House

The Indian Coffee House is not just a coffee shop; it’s a piece of living history. Established in the early 20th century, the venue was initially called Albert Hall and became the Indian Coffee House in the 1940s. Over decades, it transformed into a hub for intellectuals, artists, poets, and political activists.

The Coffee House in Kolkata’s College Street area became synonymous with the cultural renaissance of Bengal. It was frequented by stalwarts like Rabindranath Tagore, Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen, filmmaker Satyajit Ray, poet and activist Sukanta Bhattacharya, and revolutionary leader Subhas Chandra Bose. This iconic space has witnessed heated debates, revolutionary ideas, and creative breakthroughs, making it a sacred spot for culture enthusiasts.

Diljit Dosanjh’s India leg of the Dil-Luminati Tour 2024 has been a resounding success, with sold-out shows across cities. After mesmerising Delhiites, the singer is set to captivate Kolkata before heading to Mumbai on December 19. The tour has already garnered international acclaim, with stops in the US, Canada, and Europe.
