If you are a night owl, this article may make you want to become a morning person. Walking up with the sun is not only believed to have a positive impact on the day but may also aid your weight loss journey. How, you ask? Well, that’s exactly what we also wanted to know after coming across fitness coach Josiah’s post on Instagram stating 5-morning habits that, he claimed, will help you lose belly fat fast.
According to him,
Drink a glass of water and salt
*Start your day with a large glass of water (boosts metabolism, aids digestion, keeps you hydrated, and helps control appetite)
Eat a high-protein breakfast
*Have protein-rich foods like eggs, Greek yoghurt, or a protein shake (increases satiety, reduces cravings, and supports muscle maintenance)
Engage in morning exercise
*Do a 20-30 minute workout, including cardio and strength training (kickstarts metabolism, burns calories, and promotes fat loss)
Avoid sugary foods and drinks
*Skip sugary cereals, pastries, and sweetened beverages (prevents insulin spikes and reduces overall calorie intake, aiding in fat loss)
Plan your meals and snacks
*Prepare healthy meals and snacks for the day (helps you stay on track with your nutrition, reduces the temptation to overeat, and ensures balanced meals)
Commenting on these habits, Dr Santosh Pandey, naturopath and acupuncturist, Rejua Energy Centre, Mumbai said while these can be a starting point, especially for those who struggle with getting up in the morning, it is necessary to make lifestyle changes to reduce belly fat. “Belly fat is dangerous even in lean people as it adversely affects the organs,” he told indianexpress.com.
Burning belly fat needs collective efforts and certain lifestyle modifications, urged Dr Manjusha Agarwal, senior consultant, internal medicine, Gleneagles Hospitals Parel Mumbai. “The key to losing weight and burning fat lies in an intense workout regime. Limited mobility can affect your metabolism causing abrupt weight gain no matter how clean your diet is,” said Dr Agarwal.
Dr Pandey suggested the following
*Exercise; it trims fat, including visceral fat.
*Cut back on carbs, especially refined carbs.
*Eat more soluble fibre as it promotes weight loss by helping you feel full for a longer time and decreasing the number of calories your body absorbs from food.
*Stop consuming foods that contain trans fat
*Don’t eat a lot of sugary foods
* Follow a balanced diet with increased protein consumption.
*Never sit for a longer period of time and always keep moving.
*Have smaller and more frequent meals.
*Sleep deprivation also decreases your metabolism, which can make it difficult to lose that extra fat. So, adequate sleep is needed.
