A love story rooted in friendship

Sharma shared his love story in an episode of Breakfast with Champions, a show hosted by Gaurav Kapur. He said that Sajdeh was Yuvraj Singh’s “rakhi sister,” and Singh had jokingly warned him to steer clear of her. But fate had other plans. The two first crossed paths during a shoot in 2008, and though they initially misjudged each other, misunderstandings were quickly resolved, paving the way for a strong friendship.

Sajdeh, a sports event manager, is the first cousin of Bunty Sajdeh, CEO of Cornerstone Sports. Her professional journey intertwined with Sharma’s when she began managing him as a client.

What started off as a professional relationship soon morphed into something special between the two, and as they spent more time together, their solid friendship turned into a classic love story. After six long years, Sharma proposed to Sajdeh at Mumbai’s Borivali Sports Club, where he began his cricketing career at the age of 11. They formally got engaged on June 3, 2015, and threw a grand party to celebrate the occasion.

A few months later, on December 13, 2015, they tied the knot at the Taj Lands Hotel in Mumbai. The star-studded wedding saw the presence of Bollywood celebrities, cricketers, and the Ambani family, who hosted a party to honour Mumbai Indians’ captain.

Three years into their marriage, on December 30, 2018, Sharma and Sajdeh announced their daughter Samaira’s birth.
