With 35 sophisticated looks, the debut collection of am:pm (Ankur Modi, Priyanka Modi) at Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015 will be dedicated to woman of substance. Titled Siyah, the collection is derived from the Faarsi language and means ‘black’.
“The collection is designed to present both the elements of nazakat and wearability, which embraces fluidic silhouettes using fabrics like organza and silk with creative balance of black & white in the colour palette,” say the designer duo about the collection, adding, “The collection will see the marriage of architectural, classic silhouettes with comfortable fabrics and modern detailing.”
The collection will also see influences of Islamic craft and architecture and is an implicit tribute to the graceful femininity of the beautiful culture.
“Motifs inspired from the inlay work on black sheesham wood, found in Hoshiarpur, Punjab lends the collection a heritage accent while the embroidery in Mukaish gives it a refined look that the label is known for,” say the designers.
The label consolidates its reach across globe after surviving for more than a decade in the industry as it gets set to showcase at Lakme Fashion Week for the first time. Ask them the reason behind the step and pat comes the reply – “The decision to show at Lakme Fashion Week stems from the fact that we have two stand-alone stores in Mumbai already and we feel it’s our responsibility towards our customers to be more inclusive, to them to experience the world of AM:PM much more closely. It is also a natural progression for the business itself, as we have expanded across both brick-and-mortar and e-commerce over the last few years.”
