“In last 11 years of our journey as designers, the most exciting moment is going to happen this year where the very first piece of collection will be on the ramp, it has never happened before,” says the energized Nil of designer duo Dev r Nil, who will showcase their collection on Day 2 of the Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer’16 at main stage area 1 of the NSIC Grounds in Okhla, Delhi. ‘The Journey’ is all about being on the path to self-discovery and celebrating life as it is meant to be — in nature, under a shining sun, in the meadows amid blooming flowers with music in every step. Nil adds, “with everyone, their life journey is a mixed bag of memories, complications and contradictions and, apparently, it will be a part of our collection that will have floral with broken check patterns symbolizing the incomplete stories of our life.” This time around, the duo have tried to bring something luxe in their collection, which will have hints of hippies of the 1960s, merged with the free-spirited signature print of the label. Nil says, “I would call it a natural progression, to cater to the taste of our target customers that will have strong presence of our saris on the ramp too.” He adds, “This time we have given our print-on-print look a new edge, where it intercepts with solids to complement the asymmetry that plays the role of protagonist in the collection.” Some of the looks will see prints merging with embroidery crafted on base fabric of chanderi. Along with this, organza, French chiffon, crêpes and net will be the part of 'The Journey'. “We have intentionally left out the weaves that we have been known for since the inception of the label. The idea was to bring more into the label, as weaves are all around now,” says Nil. Together, a sense of edginess and beauty is expected to flow in shades of nude, off-white, tangerine, cobalt blue and sensuous black over bomber jackets, dresses, paneled palazzo, T-shirts, shirts, trousers and waistcoats.
