The Indian luxury travel landscape has now been redefined with a remarkable achievement. 36 Indian hotels have made it to the 2025 Michelin Key Selection list, making history. While Indian hotels have always been on the international luxury travel map, a Michelin recognition is for the first time. Just like Michelin’s restaurant recognition, this list chooses its finalists based on authenticity, design excellence, and an unforgettable guest experience – but in the hospitality segment. Each hotel was evaluated across 33 stringent global standards, including architecture, service, sustainability, and a sense of place. From floating palaces to Himalayan retreats, here’s a closer look at the Indian hotels that made the cut.

Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur – The Floating Wonder

Floating on Lake Pichola, like a gorgeous diamond, the Taj Lake Palace looks like it’s made of moonlight. It was built in 1746 as a royal retreat and can only be reached by boa. Marble walls, domed terraces, and traditional Rajasthani art give it a dreamy touch. Guests here can enjoy sunset boat rides, private dinners by the water, and uninterrupted lake views. The palace featured in the James Bond’s movie Octopussy and Ranbir Kapoor’s Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani ,making it a popular pit spot for tourists.

Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad – A Palace in the Sky

The Taj Falaknuma Palace sits high above Hyderabad, once home to the legendary Nizam. Guests here arrive in a horse-drawn carriage, giving them a vintage experience. Upon entering, they are welcomed by marble staircases, Venetian chandeliers, and 60 acres of gardens. Every room whispers history, and the 101-seat dining table where King George V and Queen Mary once dined still stands in perfect condition. The experience feels grand yet deeply personal — a perfect example of MICHELIN’s “art of emotional hospitality.”

The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra – The Hotel with a Taj Mahal View

Just 600 meters from the Taj Mahal, The Oberoi Amarvilas offers a gorgeous view of the monument from every suite. Its has been designed in the typical Mughal splendour style — arches, fountains, and manicured lawns. Guests wake up to the sight of the marble wonder glowing at sunrise, sip tea on private balconies, and enjoy romantic dinners under starlight.

The Kumaon, Binsar – A Mountain Hideaway
