Work in a coordinated manner to achieve terror-free J&K: Amit Shah to security agencies
Amit Shah holds one-on-one meeting with CM Omar on the final day of his three-day visit to J&K.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah Tuesday asked all security agencies to work in a coordinated manner to consolidate the gains made after the abrogation of Article 370 and achieve the goal of terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a security review meeting in Srinagar on the final day of his three-day visit to the UT, Shah said the Centre is committed to establishing lasting peace in J&K and completely eradicating terrorism.
He reiterated the Modi government’s “zero tolerance” policy towards terrorism.
The meeting was attended by J&K LG, Director IB, Chief of Army Staff, GOC Northern Command, Chief Secretary and J&K DGP along with heads of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other senior officials.
He said that due to “sustained and coordinated efforts” of the Modi government, “the entire terror eco-system nurtured by elements inimical to our country in J&K has been crippled.”
Shah also lauded the efforts of security agencies for “significant reduction” in terror-related incidents, infiltration and recruitment of youth into terrorist organisations in J&K.
He also stressed that the implementation of the “Area Domination Plan and Zero Terror Plan must be ensured in mission mode”. The Home Minister said that the Modi government is providing all resources necessary to achieve this goal.
Shah also reviewed the preparations for Amarnath Yatra, scheduled from July 3 to August 9 this year, and directed agencies concerned to take all necessary action for conducting the pilgrimage peacefully.
Earlier, addressing a review meeting, Shah said that the Modi government is working with an “unwavering resolve” towards building a developed J&K.
The officials presented the achievements of the UT in areas of power, connectivity, industry, tourism, agriculture among others to the Home Minister. Apart from this, the financial assistance given to J&K so far by the ministry and the financial assistance allocated to the UT under various heads in FY25 was also mentioned in the presentation. Shah directed officials to take all necessary steps to accelerate the pace of development in J&K so that the “full potential” of the UT can be utilised.
Sources told The Indian Express that Shah held a one-on-one meeting with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on the sidelines of the review meeting. The meeting came a week after the CM shot missives to Shah, the L-G and J&K Chief Secretary regarding the transfer of officials of the J&K Administrative Services by the L-G.
Upon his arrival at Srinagar on Monday evening, Shah, along with Abdullah and L-G Manoj Sinha, met the family of slain Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Humayun Muzamil Bhat. Bhat, son of a retired Inspector General of Police, was killed in a gunfight in South Kashmir’s Kokernag in September 2023.
On Monday, the Shah had visited the forward posts in Jammu’s Kathua and announced deployment of an electronic surveillance system along the border with Pakistan to allow security forces to gather information about activities from the enemy’s side, and detect and dismantle cross-border tunnels to thwart infiltrations.
The Ministry of Home Affairs also stated that 26 technology-related initiatives are currently being tested, which include anti-drone technology, tunnel identification technology and electronic surveillance.
