DGP Yadav said Singh was involved in large-scale heroin smuggling and he had reportedly received a large consignment from across the border recently. Six people were arrested for allegedly stealing furniture and various other items from a CBI camp office in the Shyamali Bazar area of Agartala, the Tripura police said on Thursday.
“The camp, located in this highly protected area, was closed for over five months. The incident came to light after CBI officials visited the office premises on February 11,” Subdivisional Police Officer Subrata Barman told reporters at the NCC police station.
The police identified two of the arrested accused as Biplab Debbarma and Raju Bhowmik and said that eight stolen steel almirahs, four windows, seven wooden doors, four chairs and a geyser, among other items, had been recovered in the presence of an executive magistrate.
The police said the arrested accused were residents of the Shyamali Bazar and Khejur Bagan areas in the capital city. They will be produced in a court.
The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by Inspector Anurag from the CBI.
