UP MLC bypoll date deferred to January 30 due to public holiday

The EC shifted the last date for withdrawal of candidature from January 22 to January 23.

The Election Commission Monday postponed from January 29 to January 30 the by-election to fill an Uttar Pradesh MLC seat as the last date for withdrawal of candidates, January 22, had been declared a holiday in the state.

The EC had on January 4 announced the schedule for by-polls to fill three vacant MLC seats – two in Telangana and one in UP.

The EC shifted the last date for withdrawal of candidature from January 22 to January 23.

“..the date of poll and date of counting of votes has been shifted to 30th January 2024. There is no change in Telangana schedule,” the EC said.
