“Our discussion with the Union Home Minister was positive. But we should keep on pressurising the Centre and raise our voice unitedly so that they look into our demand with serious concern,” Pradyot Kishore Debbarma said. (File) Tipra Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma Friday said the party might call for a one-day Tripura strike on the ‘Greater Tipraland’ issue. The former party chief said the move was being planned to put pressure on the Centre.
His announcement came just two days after he told his supporters in a video message that the dialogue with the Union government on the formation of a separate tribal state was progressing well.
“We are planning to hold a one-day strike to meet our demand. That’s why, we (Tipra Motha leaders) sat for discussion among ourselves. We shall announce the schedule and other details of the strike,” Pradyot Kishore told reporters at the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) headquarters in Khumulwng after his return from Delhi.
“Our discussion with the Union Home Minister was positive. But we should keep on pressurising the Centre and raise our voice unitedly so that they look into our demand with serious concern,” he further said.
Pradyot Kishore added that the indigenous community failed to develop most likely because tribal leaders failed to put across their demands unitedly.
