Police begins probe after threat letter found in lavatory of Chennai-Mumbai flight

Mo suspicious object or person was found, the police said.

Mumbai’s Airport police station officials have launched a hunt for a person who left a threat letter in a Chennai-Mumbai IndiGo flight’s lavatory on Tuesday morning.

According to the police sources, a few minutes before landing, a cabin crew member found a tissue paper in the lavatory with a message scribbled on it. The message read- “If you come to Mumbai, Everyone will die”.

After the crew alerted the captain, Air Traffic Control (ATC) was informed. An alert was sounded and all the passengers and the entire aircraft were searched after the aircraft was taken to an isolated section of the airport. But, no suspicious object or person was found, the police said.

The police said that they have registered a case under section 505 (statements conducting public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code and are looking for the person who left the letter.

Statements of the flight crew would also be recorded to check if they observed any passenger behaving abnormally or suspiciously during the journey.
