Union ministers Smriti Irani and Nirmala Sitharaman walked into the new Lok Sabha chamber together. Irani quickly made her way to the treasury benches where chief ministers were seated for the ceremony. Andhra Pradesh CM Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy posed for a photo with his party MPs, clicked by Irani. Later, Irani posted a photo from the event, with Home Minister Amit Shah seated in front of her and Minister G Kishan Reddy in the row behind, with the caption “Photo bombed — ! When everyone wants to be a part of the ‘main frame’”.

MPs from the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena wore matching saffron turbans to the ceremony. While other leaders sat together in a group, Shinde took a seat among other chief ministers.
Rs 75 Coin
The Rs 75 commemorative coin released by the Prime Minister is made of 50% silver, 40% copper, 5% nickel and 5% zinc, and weighs 35 gm. On one side, the coin has the Lion Capital and ‘Satyameva Jayate’ written, and on the other, the image of Parliament and the words ‘Sansad Sankul’.
Old vs New
Soon after the inauguration, the Lok Sabha Secretariat began tweeting facts about the new building and its comparison with the old. The new building has an area of 64,500 sq metres, as opposed to 24,281 sqm of the old. The old building has numbered gates, 1 to 12, the new old has entrances named Gyan Dwar, Shakti Dwar and Karma Dwar.
