The July 8, terror attack on an Army convoy in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, left five soldiers dead and five injured, took place around 3.10 pm when the convoy was on a bridge over a nullah in the remote Badnota village.
According to sources, a fairly large group of militants was involved. Calling the incident a highly “emboldened terrorist action”, a defence source said there were inputs of a successful infiltration in the area by a large group around two months ago.
The incident took place at the inter-formation boundary between Northern and Western Command. The soldiers who came under attack were among additional troops who had been deployed in the area a few weeks ago. The administrative convoy was attacked from two directions, sources said.
