SC notice to MP HC over removal of six women judicial officers
According to the former judicial officers, they were removed without being accorded any reasonable opportunity of hearing or holding any department enquiry, to ascertain if they had “justifiable reasons”.

The Supreme Court on Friday issued a notice to the Madhya Pradesh High Court’s Registrar General over the termination of six women civil judges from service on account of their disposal not being up to the set standards.
Advocate Gaurav Agarwal has been appointed as amicus curiae to assist the bench in the matter.
The women, in their representation to the Chief Justice of India, had submitted that they were terminated in the initial phases of their career in violation of statutory provisions, and that the low rate of disposal was due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the former judicial officers, they were removed without being accorded any reasonable opportunity of hearing or holding any department enquiry, to ascertain if they had “justifiable reasons”.
The Madhya Pradesh government had terminated their service on a recommendation by the High Court, which decided this on its administrative side in May 2023.
The court has scheduled the next hearing on February 2.
