With a view to ensure greater transparency and better interaction,Uttar Pradesh food and civil supplies department will be using social networking site Facebook to improve the department’s functioning.
Each regional food controller have been asked to open a separate Facebook page on which they will be required to update their status,information about completed works and problems faced by them, Food Commissioner Santosh Yadav said on Monday.
Yadav said he has also suggested food inspectors to use the online platform to remain in touch with fellow inspectors and seek their help if needed.
The department will also be providing data cards to food controllers,so that they could remain in contact with the department and interact with their colleagues at a click of the mouse.
The Food Commissioner also plans to hold a department review on Facebook every Thursday once the system starts in all the offices,sources said.
The department has asked those who do not know how to use computers to learn operate them.
