Trinamool worker hacked and shot dead in Lalgarh

He died on the spot and the body was taken to Kolkata by TC leaders to bring out a procession in the city with the body,sources said.

Trinamool leaders claimed that Hembram,a tribal worker of the party in Maoist-hit Lalgarh area,was allegedly killed by the CPI-M cadre who recently took control of Lalgarh from the Maoists.

The body has been kept in a mortuary and Trinamool Congress leaders and workers will bring out a procession with the body tomorrow from the mortuary to Shyambazar in northern Kolkata.

“The procession will reach to Esplanade and the body will be taken to Trinamool Congress Bhavan where the party leaders will show him last respect,” leader of the Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Partha Chatterjee said.

“Hembram was killed by armed CPI-M men. Every day our party members are being killed by CPI-M cadre. Our leader Mamata Banerjee has called for conducting movement in a non-violent path but CPI-M has unleashed a reign of terror in the state,” he said.

Meanwhile,members of People’s Committee Against Police Atrocity (PCAPA),a tribal body backed by Maoists,have called for 24-hour bandh in the Maoist-hit districts of West Midnapore,Bankura and Purulia to demand release of their former convener Chhatradhar Mahato and others who are lodged in jail.

Suspected Maoists also set alight a pay-loader at Binpur in West Midnapore district when a contractor,engaged by state Land and land revenue department,was using it to dig a pond.
