Telangana turmoil: PRP leader Rani into preventive custody

Praja Rajyam leader Shobha Rani was today taken into preventive custody after she threatened to “commit suicide” opposing proposed bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh state,police said here.

“PRP’s Mahila Rajyam president Shobha Rani was taken into preventive custody after she made the statement today that she will commit suicide in next 24 hours in support of ‘Samaikya Andhra Pradesh’ (United Andhra Pradesh),” a police officer told PTI.

The PRP leader was arrested under Section 151 CrPC (Arrest to prevent the commission of cognisable offence) and later released,SR Nagar Police said. Further investigations were on.
