Skiing courses for students conducted in Gulmarg

As part of its efforts to promote skiing in Kashmir,the department of Youth Services and Sports conducted three regular snow ski courses.

As part of its efforts to promote skiing in Kashmir,the department of Youth Services and Sports conducted three regular snow ski courses in the famous ski resort of Gulmarg in Baramulla district this winter.

“The department conducted three regular snow ski courses at Gulmarg with two for boys and one exclusively for girls this year,” a spokesman of the Youth Services and Sports said here today.

Altogether 60 students took part in the basic,intermediate and advance training courses that started on January 20 and successfully concluded on March 8,he said.

The spokesman said international skiers imparted training to the boys and girls on the slopes of Gulmarg to infuse in them the love for the sport and the enthusiasm to excel.

“The trainees were lodged in the huts hired by the department for the purpose and their boarding was also taken care of by the department. Care of the skiers on the slopes and off the slopes was taken by the officials putting in their full effort to make the skiers as comfortable as possible,” the spokesman said.

“Skiing is a pleasure and the efforts of the department are afoot to attract as many children possible,” he said.

The department has been conducting Snow Skiing Courses at the Ski Resort for the last 35 years.
