Over 34 per cent polling was reported in the country’s smallest constituency,Lakshadweep in the first hours of polling on Thursday.
The tiny island of Bitra recorded 86 per cent polling,the highest from the constituency. There are only about 178 voters in the island,Returning officer Lal Singh said.
No untoward incident has been reported from any of the 40 polling stations of the constituency,which is witnessing a contest between Hamdulla Sayeed of the Congress and Dr Pookunji Koya of NCP.
Former Union minister,Late P M Sayeed had represented the constituencies for 10 consecutive terms. His son,Hamdulla,is making his debut from the constituency this time.
