Omar seeks cooperation of all sections to restore education

The chief minister appealed to the civil society to rise to the occasion and work together with the state government.

Concerned over loss of valuable academic time of students due to ongoing unrest,Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said education should be made conflict-neutral and appealed to all sections to cooperate with the government in restoring the situation.

“The government is committed to functioning of the educational institutions because our children run the risk of losing an year of their career,an year which no one can return to them and so the need for all to work together towards restoration of normal education,” Omar said addressing a high-level meeting here.

The chief minister appealed to the civil society to rise to the occasion and work together with the state government to ensure that the students’ education and their future is not affected.

“All stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir need to introspect and understand that over the last two decades of turmoil our children have suffered stress at a very tender age and this in turn has affected their ability to create a niche in the competitive world,despite being highly capable and talented,” he said.

Omar appealed to all to rise above their stated positions and ideologies to join hands for securing the career of the future generations,which will essentially depend on good education.

He said all endeavours should be made to conduct the examinations as per schedule “so that precious academic year of our bright students is not wasted”.

The chief minister appreciated the concerns of parents,students and civil society on the whole who are keen for revival of education in the Valley.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Education Peerzada Mohammad Syed,Advisors to chief minister Mubarak Gul and Devinder Singh Rana,Chief Secretary S S Kapur,DGP Kuldeep Khuda and other senior police and civil officials.
