An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir,a defence spokesman said.
Army troops and Special Operations Group of police launched a search operation in village Bonhajin in Rajpora area of Pulwama,45 kms from here,last evening,the defence spokesman said.
The house where the militants were hiding was cordoned off and the ultras were asked to surrender. The militants opened fire on the security forces triggering a gunbattle between the two sides,he said. So far one militant has been killed and the operation is still in progress,he added. An Army Major has suffered minor injuries in the operation,the spokesman said.
