Kashmir Nursing Home to be fully operational: Health Min

A nursing home located in Srinagar,which had partially seized working after being transferred to the government in 2003,will be made fully operational from next month.

A nursing home located in the city’s high security Gupkar area,which had partially seized working after being transferred to the government in 2003,will be made fully operational from next month,a state minister said.

Kashmir Nursing Home,would initially provide the services of Gynae and Pediatrics from June 15 and gradually will provide all types of facilities,Health Minister Sham Lal Sharma said during his visit to the century-old institution yesterday.

Sharma asked for formulation of a proposal for renovation of the building and residential quarters of the doctors at the earliest.

He also directed for posting the doctors and para-medics as per the sanctioned strength to ensure quality medicare to the people.

Director of Health Services,Sleem-ur-Rehman said the Nursing Home has two fully equipped operation theatres,Labour Room and facilities of modern clinical laboratory,USG,X-ray with a bedding capacity of over 50 with independent rooms for the patients.

He said presently the institution is functioning partially by providing only OPD facility by the super specialists.

The prestigious institution which was built in 1891 for treating the European people.

During 70s the institution was taken over by Sher-i-Kashmir National Medical Institute Trust and due to disputes between the government and trust,the functioning was affected. Health department took over the management of the institution in 2003.
