Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy criticised MDMK leader Vaiko’s reported comments warning of a “bloodbath in Tamil Nadu if anything happened to LTTE leader V Prabhakaran”,and demanded his detention under the National Security Act.
In a party statement,Swamy termed Vaiko’s remarks at a public meeting in Chennai on Wednesday as “highly objectionable,anti-national” and deserving legal action.
Swamy said Prabhakaran was a “proclaimed offender” who was wanted in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, and warning of a “bloodbath” in Tamil Nadu if he was harmed amounted to “incitement of violence and disloyalty to the nation”.
Terming the statement made by Vaiko as “offensive”,Swamy urged the Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to initiate legal action against the MDMK leader and detain him under the NSA.
