A batch of 30 specially-abled children from Jammu and Kashmir has been sent by the Army for a week long motivational-educational tour to neighbouring state of Punjab,a defence spokesman said here on Wednesday.
Chenab Gunners Brigade under the aegis of Cross Swords Division flagged off the tour of these children of Viklang Chatra Trust from Jammu district’s Akhnoor area,about 30-kms from here,yesterday,he said.
The trust,an off-shoot of Jammu Red Cross Home,supports the physically challenged children of the state by providing them education,boarding,physiotherapy etc.
The tour includes visit to Jalianwala Bagh,Golden Temple and Wagah Border in Amritsar,Science City in Jalandhar and Rock Garden,Pinjour Garden,Sukhna Lake and Chatbir Zoo in Chandigarh.
The children will also have an interaction with various dignitaries,including Governor of Punjab and Haryana during the tour,the spokesman said.
