4 Maoists killed in encounter in Assam

Four suspected Maoists were killed and a police constable was critically injured in an encounter between the two sides in a remote village in Assam’s Tinsukia district today.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of a group of Maoists at Deopani Borgora village,police launched an operation in the area and in the ensuing encounter four Maoists were killed and a police constable was seriously injured.

Search operations were on in the area and huge quantities of arms and ammunition were recovered from the area,police said.

The constable identified as Achinta Das was being brought to the Assam College Hospital at Dibrugarh.
