2-yr-old dies at govt hospital due to infected injection

Following the death of Saloni,the girl in question,two resident doctors – Dr Mansi and Dr Sneha – and a staff nurse called Shahnaz were suspended,while senior doctors Dr Rashmi Dwivedi and Dr Jyotsna Shrivastava were given show-cause notice by the Medical Education Minister Anoop Mishra today,official sources said.

Nearly 20 children had been admitted in the hospital following complaint of high fever,and some of them were administered injections.

Hospital authorities said the injection-solutions were not past expiry dates,but were mixed with a diluting agent which was infected,leading to the death.

Meanwhile,Leader of Opposition in state Assembly Ajay Singh said the incident showed that people were safe neither on roads nor in the hospitals.

There was a nexus of authorities and the medicine suppliers,he said,alleging that not one but three children had died yesterday due to “wrong injections”.
