There were heart-rending scenes at the office of the Sree Kaleswari Travels to which the bus belonged,as TCS employees and victims’ friends and relatives sought details. In some cases, even names were not entered in ticket records. The Vijayawada-based owner of Sree Kaleswari Travels refused to take any responsibility, including arranging a bus for the relatives to go to the accident spot or hospitals.

The bus left Hyderabad at 9 pm Friday for Shirdi. The accident occurred around 3 am when it was negotiating a small bridge about 260 km from Hyderabad.

Vice-president of TCS V Rajanna said the company had sent two teams to the accident spot and to hospitals in Osmanabad and Solapur.

Andhra Congress president Botsa Satyanarayana claimed that some injured persons had said the driver appeared to be drunk. “The first driver stopped the bus at a wayside food stall where there was a liquor store. Passengers noticed that the second driver appeared to be drunk and complained when he started driving rashly… The driver also died,” Satyanarayana said.
