Rahul Gandhi a political cuckoo, uses others for his agenda: BJP

Targeting Gandhi, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra alleged that the Congress leader had posted an old picture of the farmers' protest while referring to their Sunday mahapanchayat in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, and said this is part of his politics of “spreading confusion and lies”.

The ruling BJP on Monday took exception to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s remarks against the government over the farmers’ protest, and called him a “political cuckoo” who does not want to work on the ground but uses others for his political agenda.

Targeting Gandhi, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra alleged that the Congress leader had posted an old picture of the farmers’ protest while referring to their Sunday mahapanchayat in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district, and said this is part of his politics of “spreading confusion and lies”.

“The Congress is without a (regular) president. It is incapable of raising ground issues. That is why Sonia Gandhi holds virtual meetings with leaders of other parties while Rahul Gandhi relies on old photographs in his attempt to spread confusion for politics,” Patra said.

According to Patra, Rahul Gandhi works like a cuckoo which does not build its nest and seeks comfort in those built by other birds. “He does not work to build his party’s organisation. He does not work hard. It has become his habit to use others’ shoulders for politics,” he charged.

Patra said the Narendra Modi government has been committed to farmers and their welfare. He cited a number of measures taken by the government, including direct transfer of over Rs 1.5 lakh crore to farmers, and record procurement and payment for their produce, to make his point.

Patra also recalled Gandhi’s attack against the government over the pace of Covid-19 vaccination. He said the inoculation drive has been efficient and clocked over one crore vaccinations on two days recently. “Now Rahul Gandhi is not seen posting any tweet on the vaccination drive,” he said.
