Khesari Lal Yadav’s fight from Chapra: After counting, Chhoti Kumari of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the contest with 86,845 votes, securing a comfortable margin of 7,600 votes. The Chapra seat also witnessed a heated contest as RJD candidate Shatrughan Yadav, popularly known as Khesari Lal Yadav, a Bhojpuri film star and singer contested against BJP’s Chhoti Kumari. The Chapra seat has been traditionally dominated by Yadavs and Rajputs, and also has a significant chunk of voters from the Vaishya and Muslim communities. The erstwhile Chapra Lok Sabha seat (before 2008 delimitation) was represented by RJD chief Lalu Prasad four times between 1977 and 2009. However, the party’s influence here has been waning.

Tejashwi Yadav, MBG’s CM face: Tejaswhi Yadav, the former Deputy Chief Minister, promised to bring a law guaranteeing a government job for one member of every family and said the recruitment process will begin within 20 months. Employment generation was one of the key issues Tejashwi raised in the high-octane campaign in the state and the government job promise is perceived as a game-changer by the RJD. Raghopur seat has been dominated by the Yadavs since party founder and Tejashwi’s father Lalu Prasad’s victory in 1995 – except 2010-2015, when the JD(U) held it – and the constituency has supported Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav for the last two terms. As Bihar Assembly Elections ended on Tuesday, the state recorded its highest-ever voter turnout at 66.91%. Notably, women set a new record with a voting percentage of 71.6% — 8.8 percentage points more than the 62.8% turnout among men. The constituency, a traditional RJD stronghold, saw a 68.54% voter turnout this year.
Chhoti Kumari of the Bharatiya Janata Party won the contest with 86,845 votes, securing a comfortable margin of 7,600 votes. Her decisive victory reflects strong voter support and a clear lead over her closest rival.
Shatrughan Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal lost with 79,245 votes, trailing by 7,600 votes, while Independent candidate Rakhi Gupta finished far behind with 11,488 votes, marking a deficit of 75,357 votes from the winner.
Tejashwi Prasad Yadav of the RJD has won the Raghopur seat with 1,18,597 votes, holding a margin of 14,532 votes.
While BJP’s Satish Kumar, has secured 1,04,065 votes so far.
Independent candidate Baliram Singh trails far behind with just 3,086 votes, making the contest a clear two-way race dominated by the RJD and BJP.
Mahagathbandhan's Chief Ministerial candidate and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav is leading Raghopur seat by 1,16,467 votes as the counting enters round 29 on Friday. Even though Yadav trailed behind BJP's Satish Kumar in several rounds of vote counting, towards the end of poll counting, the former Deputy CM is regaining his lead.

As trends suggest a landslide victory for NDA, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi says, “This is the response of the Public. We have experience and we know the public. Considering the kind of work that the double-engine government has done in Bihar, the public has voted for us.”
After trailing in the initial rounds, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav maintains sharp lead by over 13,903 votes as BJP's Satish Kumar lags behind in the 25th round of vote counting, as per the Election Commission of India.

Yadav was trailing behind BJP’s Satish Kumar in several previous rounds and if Kumar manages to secure victory in the RJD bastion, it will be major blow to the opposition alliance.
The BJP on Friday hailed the NDA's performance in the Bihar Assembly polls as "historic", saying people have once again expressed their trust in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "development-focussed" politics.
The BJP-led NDA has impressive leads in more than 180 of the state's 243 assembly seats, with trends indicating that the saffron party was on track to post its biggest tally with an excellent strike rate.
Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said people have voted for development and good governance, rising above caste and community. "This vote is of hope and trust. People have shown faith in Prime Minister Modi's leadership and his guarantee for development (of Bihar)," the former Union minister told reporters.
Prasad said people of Bihar have seen "Lalu Prasad's jungle raj" during the RJD rule and the change that took place in the state during the NDA's tenure.
People of Bihar have seen the NDA's good governance and the measures taken for their welfare, including for women, he said while hailing the poll results as "historic". "They also remember Lalu's jungle raj," the BJP MP from Bihar's Patna Sahib Lok Sabha constituency said.
"People have shown faith in Modiji, BJP and NDA...I am proud of the fact that our Bihar is today ready to march on a new path of development," Prasad said.

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, reacting to the Bihar Assembly election results, said, “This result is a message, and it will have a far-reaching impact. This message is important for the NDA and for PM Modi, who want to work for the welfare of the people without dividing them on the basis of religion. PM Modi and Nitish Kumar only want to win the hearts of the people and work for their welfare. This election result is the outcome of that effort.”
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's trail margin continues to become thinner by 9,705 votes after 16 rounds of vote counting, as per the Election Commission of India.
After eight rounds of vote counting, BJP's Chhoti Kumari leads in Chapra constituency while RJD's Shatrughan Yadav trails by 1,691 votes.

As trends suggest the NDA is heading towards a landslide victory, Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal says, "I would like to thank the people of Bihar from the bottom of my heart for giving mandate in favour of NDA."

After nine rounds of vote counting, RJD's Tejashwi Yadav trails by 2,288 votes as BJP's Satish Kumar. Its a neck and neck fight in Raghopur as Yadav tries hard to retain the seat he held for the past 10 years. He defeated BJP's Kumar in both the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections.

The BJP-led NDA appeared to register a landslide victory in Bihar, opening up impressive leads in more than 180 of the state's 243 assembly seats, with early trends also indicating that the saffron party was on track to post its biggest tally with an excellent strike rate.
According to trends available on the Election Commission's website by noon, the BJP was set to emerge as the single-largest party with a lead in more than 80 assembly seats out of 101 it contested, a performance that would further cement its position as the numero uno political force in the country, offsetting whatever setback that might have been caused by last year's Lok Sabha polls.
The NDA's tally in Bihar comes in the backdrop of the BJP's back-to-back stupendous performances in Delhi, Maharashtra and Haryana.
Even though RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav gained lead in the sixth round of vote counting, the former Deputy CM could not keep up in the seventh round. After the seventh round of vote counting, Yadav trails by 343 votes while BJP's Satish Kumar leads, according to Election Commission data.
In the sixth round of vote counting, RJD's Tejashwi Yadav has gained back lead by 219 votes as BJP's Satish Kumar trails. JSP's Chanchal Kumar has gained 617 votes, AAP's Raju Kumar 281 votes, according to the Election Commission of India.
As early trends point to a clear NDA victory in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh Minister Anil Rajbhar says, "We are not surprised at all. Nitish ji has worked on the ground, and the people are supporting his good governance. This result was expected. Everyone knows how Nitish ji took strict action against those who brought Jungle Raj.”

Meanwhile, NDA seems headed for a major win in Bihar. At present, the BJP leads in 84 seats, JDU in 75, RJD in 36, LJPRV in 22, Congress in 7 and CPI(ML) in 6. A fierce contest was expected as the counting for the Bihar Assembly Election Results got underway today. However, so far, it has been a one-sided contest, with the ruling NDA extending its lead by the minute. Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party, which claimed to be an alternative option for voters, failed to get a look-in till 11 am on the leads/trailing list. The results seem to be going the exit polls way. The Opposition, however, is maintaining that the early trends were not a reflection of the final results.
In the fourth round of vote counting, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's margin of votes by which he has been trailing spiked. This round, Tejashwi trails by 3,016 votes as BJP's Satish Kumar leads.

Vote counting is underway and across 243 constituencies in Bihar, NDA leads in 102 assembly seats, INDIA bloc in 33 in Bihar, according to EC.
JD(U)'s Anant Kumar Singh was leading in Mokama by 2,716 votes over his nearest rival, Veena Devi of the RJD, after the first round of counting. RJD's Rit Lal Roy, who fought the polls from jail, was leading in Danapur by 7,936, while BJP's Ram Kripal Yadav was trailing.

Here's what Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Minister face said on the eve of Bihar Election Results day
"We are completely confident that we are forming the government with a clear majority... We will very comfortably win the election tomorrow. Our workers are at all the counting stations and are alert. If the Administration repeats their 2020 mistake again, or anyone crosses their limit, does something unconstitutional and unfair, and if any official acts on anyone's orders, then the public will take care of it..."

The Bihar assembly election is a defining moment. More than a usual regional contest, it represents the tensions between welfare and aspiration, migration and belonging, survival and mobility. Bihar’s politics has long been viewed through the prisms of caste, crime and corruption. But its democratic aspirations have manifested in historic peasant movements, the uprising against the Emergency and the post-Mandal consolidation.
The convergence of two powerful shifts makes this election significant. First, the unprecedented turnout of women voters and the rise of women as the dominant electoral bloc in what has increasingly become a “maternal welfare state”. Second, the crystallisation of employment and migration as the new axes of debate. Together, they signal a transformation toward “migrant democracy” — a political order sustained by the circulatory lives of migrants and the civic labour of women who anchor the village economy in their absence.
At the centre of these shifts stands Nitish Kumar. By unleashing social multiplier effects of the post-Mandal transformation, his governance model has redefined state capacity. The feminised welfare infrastructure also paved the way for collective entrepreneurship through dairy cooperatives and local enterprise. Still, there is a long way to go. On the other hand, with millions of youths migrating, palayan remains an open wound. Chief Minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar has long been the NDA’s face in Bihar. With the BJP and the JD(U) both allotted 101 seats as part of the NDA’s seat-sharing deal for the state’s 243 seats in the elections, the balance of power appeared to have shifted in the alliance, with the JD(U) no longer remaining the BJP’s senior ally. This indicated that even Nitish’s role may face scrutiny or challenge after the polls.
To retain his position as the NDA’s principal leader in Bihar, Nitish would be dependent on two things: the JD(U)’s own performance and whether the alliance could clinch a clear victory. If the NDA wins comfortably and Nitish retains a strong personal mandate with his party improving its tally as compared to the 2020 polls – when it had won just 43 seats against the BJP’s 74 – his leadership will be reinforced. But if the NDA’s victory is narrow and the BJP outperforms the JD(U), Nitish may see a question mark over his leadership.

Against the overall turnout of a record 66.91%, the voting percentage among women voters was 71.6 per cent, as much as 8.8 percentage points more than the 62.8% turnout among men and the largest ever gap. In terms of absolute numbers too, women appear to have out-voted men in Bihar, which would be a first for the state.
The Mahagathbandhan hopes to break JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar’s two-decade run as Bihar Chief Minister, while the NDA hopes to continue to helm the state. While the RJD in alliance with the JD(U) won the 2015 Bihar elections, the alliance broke soon after. Now, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, supported by the Congress, is fighting to break the RJD’s electoral jinx. Key candidates include Bijendra Prasad Yadav, a veteran JD(U) leader and the most senior member of the state cabinet, who seeks to retain his Supaul seat for a record eighth term.
The counting of votes and the announcement of trends for the Bihar Elections 2025 will commence at 8 am on November 14, with the final results expected to be declared by the evening. The voter turnout in the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly Elections, was recorded to be 66.91 per cent, officially the highest-ever voter turnout in the state since 1951, the Election Commission of India said.
