Police outpost ransacked in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna after clash between two groups

Police have invoked sections pertaining to attempt to murder, rioting and other offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against those who ransacked the police outpost.

A mob stormed into a police outpost in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district and ransacked it, leading to injuries to four persons, police said Saturday. The incident took place late Friday night at Ukawad outpost in Hirapura village under Madhusudangarh police station limits, some 50 km from the district headquarters.

“Two groups of people had clashed over putting up a kiosk, after which four persons from one of the groups came to the outpost to get an FIR registered. Meanwhile, around 40 persons of the other group came in and thrashed these four. They also ransacked the outpost,” a senior police officer said.

The injured — Sarjan Singh Gurjar, Jasman Gurjar, Radheshyam Gurjar and Sitaram Gurjar –  have been admitted to the district hospital. Sarjan told reporters in Guna that he was assaulted for about 15 minutes. He said the other group had picked up a fight a day before and on Friday night a mob had gathered at the behest of one Himmat Lodhi, and attacked them inside the outpost with sticks. “They broke through the front gate. They beat everyone, including the police officers,” he said.
