PM Modi NITI Aayog Meeting: At NITI meeting, states asked to have intermediate timelines leading to Viksit Bharat 2047 goal

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday proposed a dual approach to resuscitate Jammu and Kashmir's tourism sector, severely impacted by the Pahalgam terror attack, urging the Centre to mandate PSUs to hold meetings in Kashmir and to convene parliamentary committee meetings there.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday presented a vision document-2047 highlighting the state's contribution in achieving the national goal of becoming a developed India by 2047.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday said drainage issues in cities have become a major challenge due to rapid urbanisation in his state and called for formulation of a special plan at the national level to address the problem.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Saturday called for a provision in the Coal Bearing Areas (Acquisition and Development) Act, commonly known as the CBA Act, requiring companies to return land to the state government after mining activities.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday proposed setting up of a national task force headed by Prime Minister and consisting respective CMs to harness the full economic potential of the country's top six metropolitan cities -- Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad.

In his address to the Governing Council of NITI Aayog in Delhi, he said it is imperative to recognise the economic significance of six metropolitan cities.

These cities, together accounting for a major share of the country's urban GDP, serve as critical engines of economic growth, innovation, and job creation, he said. — PTI

The BJP on Saturday slammed Jairam Ramesh for his remarks on the NITI Aayog meeting, saying the Congress leader will finish off his party with his tendency to create controversy over some or other issues.

"This is a meeting of Team India to take decisions for the country's development. Jairam Ramesh is finding fault in this too," BJP national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said. — PTI

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday proposed forming three sub – groups on GDP growth, population management and leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting in New Delhi.

Addressing the 10th NITI Aayog Governing Council Meeting at Bharat Mandapam, the Chief Minister noted that the sub – groups of states formed in collaboration with the Centre should work towards fast-tracking Viksit Bharat – 2047 (developed India) vision.

“The first sub-group on GDP growth aims to boost investments, manufacturing, exports and job creation, supported by Central viability gap funding for PPP projects,” said a TDP press release, quoting Naidu. — PTI

"Viksit Bharat is the goal of every Indian. When every state is Viksit, then Bharat will be Viksit. This is the aspiration of its 140 crore citizens," PM Modi said during the NITI Aayog meeting.

The council, the apex body of Niti Aayog, includes all state chief ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and several Union ministers. Prime Minister Modi is the chairman of Niti Aayog.

At the Governing Council meeting, PM Modi said India has to “increase the speed of development”. “If the Centre and all the States come together and work together like Team India, no goal is impossible,” he told the CMs and Union Ministers in attendance.

“What kind of developed India will it be when the people in power are busy destroying the fabric of social harmony through their own words and actions?” asked veteran Congress leader Jairam Ramesh.

“What kind of developed India will it be when the autonomy of the Parliament, Judiciary, Universities, Media and Constitutional institutions is being crushed as per the convenience of those in power?” asked Ramesh.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently chairing Niti Aayog’s 10th Governing Council meeting, the Congress on Saturday said the “meeting of Niti Aayog, the most incompetent body ever, is yet another attempt at hypocrisy and diversion.”

Congress communication in charge Jairam Ramesh said: “Today, the Governing Council of NITI Aayog is meeting under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister. It has been said that the progress of the so-called 'Developed India' goal will be reviewed in this.”

Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy did not attend the 10th meeting of NITI Aayog Governing Council, which was chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday, an official source said.

The source, however, did not disclose the reason for Rangasamy skipping the event.

It was not clear immediately whether the speech of the Chief Minister would be read out at the meeting. (PTI)
