As the nation watched Narendra Modi unfurl the ‘Dharma Dhwaja’ atop the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya Tuesday, the PM said that the flag is a symbol of new awakening and will stand as a testament that truth ultimately triumphs over falsehood.

In his speech, Modi saluted all the devotees, contributors and foot-soldiers who helped in realising the dream of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

🔹 1528: Mir Baqi, commander of Mughal emperor Babur, builds Babri Masjid

🔹 1885: Mahant Raghubir Das files plea in Faizabad district court seeking permission to build a canopy outside the Babri Masjid structure. Court rejects plea.

🔹 1949: Idols of Ram Lalla are placed under a central dome outside the disputed structure, leading to widespread protests. Both communities file cases, Hashim Ansari for Muslims and Mahant Paramhans Ramchandra Das for Hindus. The government declares the site as disputed and locks the gates to it.
