BSP chief Mayawati said the party would give opportunities to them in future after much thought to avoid such setbacks.

A DAY after the BSP put up its poorest performance in LS election, party chief Mayawati Wednesday said Muslims did not understand her party despite the fact that she gave adequate representation to the community.

She said the BSP would give opportunities to them in future after much thought to avoid such setbacks.

Calling Muslims an “important part” of BSP, Mayawati said in a statement, “Now in this situation, the party will give opportunities to them in future elections kafi soch samajh kar (after much thought) so that the party does not suffer a similar setback in future.” The BSP had fielded the highest number of Muslim candidates in the country at 35 in a bid to broaden her support base with a combination of Dalits and Muslim votes.
