Two 18-year-old labourers from Bihar were found dead with bullet injuries in Manipur’s Kakching district on Saturday.
Police said the duo—Dashrat Kumar and Sunalal Kumar, construction labourers hailing from Rajwahi village in Bihar’s Gopalganj district—were shot by unknown assailants while cycling back after work at Wabagai Keithel. The incident occurred around 5 pm along NH 137(A).
The police rushed the labourers to a private hospital, where they were declared dead on arrival.
The duo stayed at Kakching Khunyai Leikai near the CPI office and worked under a mason named Prabhu Yadav, who is also from Bihar.
The police have registered a case and are yet to ascertain the motive behind the attack.
“The investigation is underway. We are making all efforts to nab the culprits,” said a police officer.
