PWD to develop flyover, underpasses in Northwest Delhi

Currently, there is a manned railway crossing on the stretch, which is part of the Delhi-Ambala railway line that leads to heavy traffic jams especially during peak hours.

PWD to develop flyover, underpasses in Northwest DelhiUnder the proposed corridor improvement project plan, a four-lane railway overbridge or flyover, along with two five-metre-wide railway underpasses, including a 1.2-metre footpath for pedestrian movement, have been planned.

To decongest Northwest Delhi’s Khera Kalan near Rohini the Public Works Department (PWD), in association with Northern Railways, is planning to construct a flyover and two underpasses to provide a smooth connectivity between Khera Kalan to Khera Khurd Road.

Currently, there is a manned railway crossing on the stretch, which is part of the Delhi-Ambala railway line that leads to heavy traffic jams especially during peak hours. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 109 crore.

Under the proposed corridor improvement project plan, a four-lane railway overbridge or flyover, along with two five-metre-wide railway underpasses, including a 1.2-metre footpath for pedestrian movement, have been planned. The footpath inside the underpasses would be connected to the road above through a ramp

“The Railways have intimated that the work was awarded in February last year… Now, it is being executed as deposit work of the railways according to the revised MOU… Draft revised MOU received from the railway is under process of approval…,” said officials, adding that the project has already received in-principle approval.
