Thackeray discharged; doctors defer endoscopy

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray was discharged from Lilavati Hospital.

Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray was today discharged from Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra,eight days after he was hospitalised.

However,the 86-year old Sena patriarch did not undergo endoscopy as anticipated. Hyderabad-based interventional gastroenterologist Nageshwar Reddy and his team was to perform the endoscopy.

“The endoscopy has been deferred. His condition is now stable and we are closely monitoring his medical condition,” Lilavati doctor Jalil Parkar said.

Parkar and Paresh Warty have been closely monitoring the Sena chief’s health.

Thackeray was admitted to Lilavati on July 24 after he complained of breathlessness and acute constipation. After he spent two days in the ICU,Thackeray was shifted to a special room in the hospital’s 11th floor.

Senior politicians,including NCP chief Sharad Pawar,BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari and Gopinath Munde,MNS chief Raj Thackeray,Sena leaders Manohar Joshi and Subhash Desai and RPI leader Ramdas Athavale were among those who visited him at the hospital over the past week.
