Mumbai:The much-discussed seaplane service to connect inland water bodies is likely to start next month. “We hope to launch it by April,” MTDC MD Jagdish Patil said. He said MTDC was awaiting an NOC from the state irrigation department. Patil said efforts were on to connect Rahuri in Ahmednagar district,which will serve pilgrims going to Shirdi,Koyna dam (which will help tourists going to Mahabaleshwar) and Pune.

Three running agency with fake papers held

Thane:Three persons were arrested Friday for allegedly forging official stamps and signature of Thane Police Commissioner to run a security agency. Radheshyam Tiwari,Rajesh Dubey and B R Yadav claimed they had obtained permission to operate the agency,inspector Vijay Shinde said. The agency provided security to over 200 establishments in Thane-Mumbai.

81% voting in gram panchayat polls

MUMBAI:The 353 gram panchayats in the state that went to polls Friday registered 81 per cent voting. Of the 459 panchayats to which elections were announced,only 353 saw voting. In other bodies,candidates were elected unopposed. Results are on Saturday.
