Investigations by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) have revealed that two days before the August 1,2012,serial blasts on J M Road in Pune, top Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Riyaz Bhatkal had an Internet chat on the attack with one of the three suspects who allegedly placed the bombs.
As per the chargesheet in the case submitted by the ATS at the Special MCOCA Court in Mumbai on April 30,suspect Feroz alias Humza Abdul Hameed Sayyed (38),a resident of Shukrawar Peth in Pune, chatted with Bhatkal on a Yahoo account on July 30,2012.
According to the ATS,during investigation,Feroz, who ran a garments shop in the Pune Camp area, had given the details of his e-mail accounts through which he was in contact with Bhatkal as well as alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba operative Fayyaz Kagzi, who are suspected to be functioning from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The ATS claims to have traced four e-mail addresses and one Facebook account to Feroz. He allegedly admitted to using e-mail accountrocketcharles912@yahoo.com on Yahoo! Messenger to chat with Bhatkal, who reportedly used the id lovelyhunk34,May 31,2012,onwards. Investigators claimed to have found 20 chats between the two, with the last being on July 30,2012. Two days later,low-intensity serial blasts went off on Punes J M Road, leaving one injured.
Apart from the printouts of their chat history, the ATS has also attached what it claims are printouts of chats between Feroz and Kagzi. The ATS claims that Feroz used yahoo account mark.tailor81@yahoo.com for chatting with Kagzi on emaild id hi.dude86. The printouts cover 160 Internet chats allegedly between them over months, and cover things like purchase of a cellphone, requirement of money, making new friends and sharing of mobile numbers.
During the chat,rocketcharles912 (allegedly Feroz) tells lovelyhunk33 (allegedly Bhatkal),Muze yahan kafi log jante hain (people know me here). Lovelyhunk33 replies,Bhae, apny purany jitny bhi works huee hain,wo same hai,aur unhay kabhi koi problem nahi huee hai…apko hind area mein toh log nahin jante hain…aurr aapne kisi sy bolker tu nahi kerna hai…chupchaaap chaale gaye rakhyy aur agayee (Our old actions were similar and never faced any problems. People do not know you in the Hindu area. Also, you do not have tell about it (terror attack) to anyone…just go quietly, place and come back).
The ATS claims that this chat was related to execution of the bomb blasts and jehadi activities.
During the alleged interaction,Bhatkal also asks Feroz whether he was chatting from a cyber cafe. When rocketcharles912 replies yes,lovelyhunk33 instructs,Kaam ke baad kamsy kam 1 mnth cfee k pass bhi nahi dikhnaa (Do not be visible around the cyber cafe for at least a month after the work is done).
In the conversation,Bhatkal appears to also talk about suspects Shakir alias Asadullah Akhtar alias Javed alias Tabrej and Ahmed alias Wakas, who allegedly accompanied Feroz while purchasing bicycles from Pune market on August 1 for planting the bombs. He says,Ye shkr bhae aur ahmd bhae dunu bht keemmtii apnay….saalu saalll se gher choree ker 24 hr apney he kaamm mei (Ahmed and Shakir are precious to us. Both left their homes and are doing our work for 24 hours a day).
Urging Feroz to allegedly be part of the operation,Bhatkal says,A gawaaa hai k ye kaamm hum serf aur serf A (Allah) ki rza k lye kar rahy hain (Allah knows that we are doing this work only and only for Allah). The person alleged to be Bhatkal further says,Cntc mein rehna hai…bht kaam hai apki citi mein (Stay in contact…there is a lot of work to be done in your city). The conversation ends with: Accha ab km k baad je baat kerengay (Ok,now we will chat after the work is done).
The Special Cell of the Delhi Police had arrested Feroz along with three more suspects,Imran Khan Wajid Pathan of Nanded,Irfan Mushtaq Landge (32) of Ahmednagar and Asad Khan Jamshedali Khan (33) of Aurangabad (the alleged leader of the terror module),between September 26 and October 9,2012. The J M Road blasts are believed to have been carried out to avenge the killing of alleged IM operative Qateel Siddiqui inside Punes Yerwada jail.
Later, the Maharashtra ATS arrested four more suspects, including Munib Iqbal Memon (32),Farooq Shaukat Bagwan (32) from Pune,Sayyed Aarif alias Kaashif Sayyed Jafaruddin Biyabani (32) of Aurangabad and Aslam Shabbir Shaikh alias Banti Jahagirdar (40) of Ahmednagar, for their links with the case.
