The Centre on Thursday ruled out introducing the Bill for the creation of Telangana in Parliament’s monsoon session, but said the new state would come into existence in six months.

“No,not in this session. I do not think it will come so soon. Maybe by next session,” Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said at a press conference while replying to a question on the possibility of the government bringing the Bill in the session that begins on Monday.

The home minister said creating a new state normally takes eight to nine months but the government would try to do it earlier. “Usually,it takes eight to nine months. But we will try to do at the earliest — maybe five and a half months to six months, maybe earlier than that,” he said.

The BJP has demanded the Bill be brought in the monsoon session.
