No discrepancies in demand for grants for MHA: Chidambaram

Home Minister P Chidambaram 'categorically' denied that there were any discrepancies in the demand for grants for the Home Ministry as pointed out by the BJP.

Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday “categorically” denied that there were any discrepancies in the demand for grants for the Home Ministry as pointed out by the BJP on Wednesday.

BJP’s Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj had on Wednesday alleged certain discrepancies between the figures contained in the detailed demand for grants pertaining to police,NSG and modernisation of the police forces.

Chidambaram said in the House,“I have examined the detailed demand for grants of MHA as well as the expenditure budget. I would like to state categorically that there are no discrepancies”.

He said “a careful reading of the annexure will show that the final number in the two columns exactly match each other. There are, therefore,no discrepancies whatsoever”.

At this point Swaraj intervened to say that the Minister was quoting different figures on Thursday to which Chidambaram replied that they add up to the same number.
