Goa government is working on a proposal to provide subsidy to private transporters, who complained that they suffered losses ever since the state-run Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) introduced subsidised pass system.

The state government is working on a proposal to give subsidy to the private operators on the basis of the distance covered by the buses, which will help them win over the competition set by the state-run KTC,Transport Director Arun Desai told PTI.

KTC has launched subsidised pass system for the passengers which is severely affecting the business of private buses, the bus owners had complained in the past.

Desai said that subsidy of Rs three per kilometre can be given to the private players, who have claimed 60 per cent losses in their business ever since pass system was introduced by KTC. There are 1,000 odd private buses plying across the state almost on all the except three nationalised routes connecting Margao,Vasco and Panaji cities.
