Tamil Nadu vigilance officials on Friday conducted raids at over 70 places across the state in connection with alleged irregularities in appointments made by the state public service commission.
The searches were in progress at the premises of candidates who had appeared for various exams conducted by the Commission,sources in the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption said.
Earlier,DVAC had conducted raids in the premises of the Chairman and members of TNPSC and some officials working with the Constitutional body besides middlemen allegedly involved in the scam late last year.
TNPSC Chairman T R Sellamuthu and several members of the commission are facing charges including criminal misconduct by obtaining pecuniary advantage and abuse of official position.
A case had been filed under different sections of Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) over alleged irregularities in recruitment of Assistant Dental surgeons and Motor Vehicle inspectors Grade II.
