Congress not behind CBI probe against Jagan: AP minister

He says probe against Jagan has been ordered by a court.

Taking exception to Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s charge that the Congress high command has began a witch-hunt against him,a senior Andhra Pradesh minister today said the party had nothing do with the CBI investigation against the Kadapa MP over alleged corruption cases.

Talking about Jagan’s allegations of witch-hunt in letters reportedly given by him to various opposition leaders in Delhi, state Health Minister D L Ravindra Reddy said the YSR Congress president should remember that the probe against him has been ordered by a court.

“Congress MLA P Shankar Rao (now a minister) might have written to the court but the High Court has ordered the CBI probe after examining the issue. What has Congress to do with this? Jagan had first said he would welcome the probe but knocked the doors of Supreme Court twice subsequently (for relief),” he said, addressing a press conference.

Referring to various points raised by Jagan,Ravindra Reddy asked why should the Kadapa MP be worrying about the investigation,if there was no fault on his part.

The minister said he was willing to provide the CBI any information in his possession in its ongoing probe into cases related to Jagan.

He further alleged that former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy indulged in various irregularities over his mining business.

To a query about decisions taken during late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s regime,he said the Cabinet does have collective responsibility and ministers have expressed readiness to face probe.

Ravindra Reddy said he did not agree with the theory that late Rajasekhara Reddy single-handedly brought Congress to power in 2004 elections.
