BJP accuses Cong of resorting to ‘divisive’ issues

BJP says issues like good governance and development have gone to the background.

Attacking Congress on sub-quota for minorities,BJP today accused it of resorting to “divisive issues” in poll-bound Uttar Pradesh and pushing governance and development in the background.

Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley told industry captains at a FICCI programme here that by introducing “divisive issues” in UP,issues like good

governance and development have gone to the background.

He said during the Bihar assembly elections,development agenda had taken the centrestage and he had thought that the same would happen in UP ahead of polls.

He was referring the announcement of Law Minister Salman Khurshid that backward Muslims would be given 9 per cent quota if Congress comes to power in the state.

BJP had lodged a complaint with the Election Commission. Acting on the complaint,the EC served notice to Khurshid seeking explanation.
