The Supreme Court today refused to pass any order on Ajmal Kasab, the sole convict in the 26/11 Mumbai terror case.

The Maharashtra government pleaded that Kasab’s letter to the court challenging his death sentence should be tagged with the appeal against the acquittal of the two alleged Indian conspirators — Faheem Ansari and Sabauddin Ahmed — in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack.

“We are taking a step regarding this (Kasab’s letter),” a Bench headed by Justice Aftab Alam said.

Kasab had moved the Supreme Court challenging his conviction and death sentence in the 26/11 attacks.

The high court had upheld the death sentence of Kasab for the “brutal and diabolical” 26/11 Mumbai attacks aimed at “destabilising” the government.

Kasab’s death penalty was upheld on charges of criminal conspiracy, waging war against the nation,IPC section related to murder and under sections of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

A Mumbai Special Court on May 6,2010,sentenced Kasab to death on four counts.
