Kids enrolled in schools without religious identity are future hope: Kerala judgeV G Arun said “children enrolled in schools without religious identity are the hope of the future”.

Addressing an event recently, Kerala High Court judge V G Arun said “children enrolled in schools without religious identity are the hope of the future”.

The judge was speaking at a meeting organised by Kerala Yukthivadi Sangham, a rationalist organisation, to felicitate writer Vaisakhan.

Hailing Vaisakhan and late Pavanan (rationalist and writer) as personalities who have firm conviction and opinion, the judge said, “Hence, I appreciate you (parents) who are ready to enroll your children in schools without mentioning their religious identity. These children will be the hope of the future. When others stand perplexed, these children will raise questions pointing fingers at society.”

On the dwindling number of people with strong conviction, the judge also blamed the “social media warriors who pounce on writers like vultures”. “A section of cases I hear (in the High Court) are petitions demanding quashing of FIRs… There will be FIRs registered in connection with social media posts…,” he said.
