Train to Kashmir Vande Bharat, Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express latest news:Indian Railways (IR) has revised the schedule of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK)-Srinagar Vande Bharat Express train, four months after its launch. The train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6, 2025. This train is being operated and maintained by the Northern Railway (NR) zone.
Katra to Srinagar Vande Bharat train: Train Number, Route, Distance, Travel Time
Train number 26401/26402 Katra-Srinagar-Katra Vande Bharat Express covers a distance of 191 km in 02:58 hrs.
During its journey between Katra and Srinagar, the Vande Bharat Express currently stops at Banihal only. However, the Northern Railway has revised the stoppages for train numbers 26401 and 26402. Starting October 29, 2025, the train will also halt at Reasi station for two minutes in both directions.

In a statement, Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division, Northern Railway said: “To enhance the convenience of passengers in Jammu Division and to meet local demand, Train No. 26401-26402 Srinagar-Katra Vande Bharat Express will stop at Reasi Railway Station from October 29, 2025.
Currently, this Vande Bharat semi-high-speed train stops only once between Katra and Srinagar – at Banihal. To provide convenience to passengers, the Vande Bharat Express will stop at Reasi for two minutes in both directions.”
Singhal further stated that the new stoppage has been introduced to meet the increasing passenger demand from Reasi district.
“The new stoppage aims to meet the growing passenger demand from Reasi district, which is a major religious and tourist destination due to its proximity to the Vaishno Devi shrine and the world’s highest railway bridge, the Chenab Bridge,” he said.

Katra to Srinagar Vande Bharat train timings
Train number 26401, the Katra–Srinagar Vande Bharat Express, departs from SVDK at 08:10 hrs and arrives in Srinagar at 11:08 hrs. On the return journey, train number 26402, the Srinagar–Katra Vande Bharat Express, leaves Srinagar at 14:00 hrs and reaches Katra at 16:58 hrs.
