A widow on Monday alleged that a station house officer in Tarn Taran district had raped her on February 10 when she went to lodge a complaint in regard to a dispute. Following this,Border Range DIG Paramraj Singh Umranangal ordered a probe by Tarn Taran SP (Detective) into the matter.

The woman,a police officer said, appeared before Umranangal on Monday. The woman alleged that when she went to the police station to lodge a complaint, she was told that SHO was not present and thus, asked to go to his quarter. There she was allegedly raped.

“I have marked a probe to SP (D) to probe the complaint. She had earlier lodged a complaint with Tarn Taran SSP,who had marked an inquiry to a DSP. But the woman and others accompanying her today demanded that inquiry be entrusted to some other officer,” Umranangal said.
